The Great Idle Person of the Zhenguan Era.

Chapter 36: Reentering Chang'an. [37]

Summary

Dong Yang, a princess, encountered Li Su, who was working on a mysterious model. She tried to divert his attention, but Li Su was not impressed. He began telling her a story about an ugly duckling to distract her, which Dong Yang found enchanting. However, when she misinterpreted the story's meaning, Li Su was surprised. He then packed up his things and left, leaving the model to dry. Later, Li Su and the Wang brothers retrieved six taels of silver and entered Chang'an City. They visited the Zong Sheng Palace, where Li Su spent a lot of money to buy materials and meet with a Taoist Priest. Li Su then took the model to an ironwork shop, where the master created a movable-type printing template. Excited by his invention, Li Su took the template to a stationery store and asked an engraving master to engrave characters on each small block. However, the master was confused and hesitant, leading Li Su to offer him a deal in exchange for secrecy. The master was offended but eventually agreed to sign a letter and complete the task.
