Summary

Liu Che, after sending off Liu Yan, welcomed his young brother Liu Pengzu, a 10-year-old regional lord, to a private meeting. Despite Liu Pengzu's royal status, he lacks political acumen. Liu Che's true motive for the meeting is to form an alliance with Liu Pengzu's formidable mother, Jia Ji, against their rival Cheng Ji. Liu Che manipulates Liu Pengzu with gifts and flattery, presenting him with valuable books to win over Jia Ji's faction. Although Liu Pengzu is naive, his royal tutor, Zhang Sheng, recognizes the Crown Prince's intentions. Jia Ji, aware of Liu Che's cold nature, sees the potential benefits of the alliance against Cheng Ji.
