Summary

In the Ji Clan's castle, military governor Xia Guan convenes the Elders to elect a new ruler after the former leader's body goes missing, revealing he has escaped. Xia Guan orders secrecy and forbids palace staff from leaving. The Elders gather to vote, and Elder Nan Shan is elected as the new ruler. He is crowned after performing rituals, and his first decree is to announce the ousting of the former ruler and initiate a manhunt for him. Meanwhile, the former Ji Clan ruler disguises himself as a merchant and seeks refuge with the Tao clan, evading capture. The Ji Clan's elite guards pursue him, eventually reuniting with him as they near the Ying Clan's territory. The ruler orders his party to move quickly for safety and plans to establish a base in a larger village to plot revenge against the new ruler.
