The Legend of Situ Shankong.

Chapter 34: Sudden Situation. [34]

Summary

In a rural mourning hall during a late-night funeral, a child suddenly experiences a mysterious, trance-like state where his body becomes rigid and unresponsive. Despite his family's panic, the child appears lifeless yet breathing. The narrator, who seems to have experience with mysterious arts, suspects the child's soul has departed from his body. The eerie situation occurs around midnight, traditionally considered a time when yin energy is strongest and souls are most likely to gather or be sensed. The child's unusual physical condition and unnatural stillness suggest something supernatural might be happening.
