Chapter 337: "Guandou South Road Blood Battle: Siege and Counterattack". [339]
Summary
After lunch, the Guandou army resumed its assault on the Chao Court's main camp while remaining vigilant against potential rear attacks. The Xiahou guards, recognizing the need for a strategic response, decided to concentrate their forces to counter the Guandou's advance effectively. They dispatched five thousand light cavalry to feign an attack, intending to draw the enemy's focus away from their main forces. This tactic allowed the Xiahou guards to launch a coordinated assault, ultimately encircling the Guandou troops. As the battle unfolded, the Guandou army found itself outnumbered and isolated, leading to chaotic fighting. The Xiahou guards executed their plan, overwhelming the Guandou's southern troops and forcing them into retreat. Despite the Guandou Elder's attempts to regroup and reinforce, they faced significant losses and were ultimately unable to penetrate the fortified defenses of the Chao Court's camp. Exhausted and with substantial casualties, the Guandou Elder ordered a retreat, realizing the dire state of his forces.Full content
