Summary

Meilun offers nourishment in exchange for protection from the jungle, securing a deal for twenty pulses of starlight (about fifty years). He begins constructing a high-maintenance shield within a cave provided by the deep green sphere, which he names Little Green. After three days of work, the shield is completed and shows promise for future use. Meilun leaves a coordinate anchor point in the cave and returns to the real world, feeling lighter and ready to continue his experiments.
