Summary

The chapter begins with a damaged ship docking at the Yellow River, carrying the only survivors of an attack. Commander Wang Shi Chong learns from a lieutenant that they were ambushed by cavalry using fire arrows, likely from Zhang Xuan's forces. Wang Shi Chong sends his brother, Wang Shi Yun, to negotiate with Zhang Xuan for the return of captured soldiers. Meanwhile, Zhang Xuan is busy managing an influx of refugees in Linzi County, having gained a reputation as a savior after defeating Wang Shi Chong's bandit army. Wang Shi Yun arrives in Linzi County, where he learns Zhang Xuan has captured many of his soldiers. He visits the prisoner camp, where he meets Lang Ling, who informs him of the heavy losses suffered by their forces. Wang Shi Yun realizes Zhang Xuan is holding the prisoners to negotiate, leaving him in a difficult position.
