Summary

Pei Xingyan leads a thousand troops north to rescue Dong'an County, while Zhang Xuan follows with four thousand troops towards Xintai County. Pei Ren Ji's army reaches the desolate Han Cheng Zhen, where he learns of Xintai County's fall due to betrayal by his trusted officer, Luo Zhen Yu. Overwhelmed by guilt, Pei Ren Ji decides to retreat to Qi County and inform Zhang Xuan to withdraw. However, they soon face an ambush from bandits led by Luo Zhen Yu, resulting in chaos and heavy casualties for the Sui army. Meanwhile, Zhang Xuan, upon learning of the ambush, rushes to aid Pei Ren Ji's beleaguered forces. The battle intensifies, with Zhang Xuan's timely arrival turning the tide against Luo Zhen Yu, who is ultimately killed by Qin Yong.
