Summary

Dayu convenes a meeting with the Grand Minister of Heaven and the acting commander of the Huai Mountain Clan to discuss the impending threat from foreign forces breaching the east gate of Wang Ji's new city. He argues for concentrating their defenses in the inner city rather than scattering their forces, while the acting commander believes they can withstand the enemy's attacks. Dayu warns that the unknown whereabouts of Yi Di pose a significant risk, suggesting that allowing the enemy into the outer city would lead to chaos and suffering for the common people. Ultimately, after much deliberation, they decide to abandon the outer city and retreat to the inner city for a stronger defense. The Jingzhou garrison and other commanders express confusion and guilt over the decision, but they comply with the orders. As the court's forces retreat, the enemy launches a brutal assault on the outer city, resulting in widespread devastation and chaos.
