Chapter 312: Misjudgment, Imagination, Misunderstanding. [341]

Summary

Having left Jiangning for nearly a year, Ning Yi feels unfamiliar with certain aspects of the city. During this time, Zhu Ji has opened three new establishments: Ming Yue Lou, a bustling tavern; Qing Yuan, a teahouse for scholars and artists; and Yi Lan Ju, a quieter dining spot. These venues are transformations of Ning Yi's previous ideas, supported by Kang Xian, who discreetly boosts their reputation. Yun Zhu believes the funds received from Kang Xian were a loan and has been repaying him, which inadvertently enhances Zhu Ji's fame through various events. Upon Ning Yi's return, he learns of the developments at Zhu Ji and the admiration for his poetry, which he did not write. Kang Xian praises Ning Yi's poetic talent, expressing frustration at his genius. As they converse, Kang Xian becomes serious, questioning Ning Yi about his intentions regarding actions taken in the Ba Dao Camp, to which Ning Yi responds that his goal is to sway public opinion. Despite acknowledging the futility of such ideas historically, Ning Yi remains calm, hinting at a broader, practical approach to the matter.
