Chapter 311: The Great Showdown [312]

Summary

Shen Jiao shares Xu Qiao's funny stories with Qian Shu Meng, who laughs at his petty behavior. Wu Gang Qiang, frustrated by Xu Qiao's antics, complains about missing pan-fried buns that Xu Qiao and his son, Xu Ai Hong, have eaten. When Xu Qiao begins to choke on a bun, Xu Ai Hong quickly helps him by fetching water, resolving the situation. Wu Gang Qiang invites Shen Jiao to watch a foreign film, while Qian Shu Meng prefers the book market. Shen Jiao decides they will do both. At the film, a middle-aged man performs a shadow play about the Monkey King, captivating the audience, especially Shen Jiao, who is enchanted by the performance. Despite her enjoyment, Qian Shu Meng pulls her away, leading them to the book market, where Shen Jiao buys several comic strips. They agree to swap books, but Shen Jiao dismisses fairy tales as nonsense. Later, while watching a movie, Shen Jiao feels overwhelmed and prefers the shadow play, realizing it was more enjoyable.
