Chapter 31: Night Banquet at Cheng Manor. [32]

Summary

The Cheng Family's banquet was a grand martial gathering with a strong brew, boiled deer meat, a whole chicken, and large chunks of beef. Cheng Yaojin, the host, was known for his eccentric personality and axe-wielding skills. His son, Cheng Chumu, attempted to compose a poem but was initially met with ridicule. However, after reciting the poem, the room fell silent, and the literary officials were stunned. The poem showcased the valor of the Tang Dynasty warriors, and Li Jing, the renowned war god, praised Cheng Chumu's talent. But just as the atmosphere reached a higher climax, Changsun Wuji questioned the authenticity of the poem, asking if it was really written by Cheng Chumu.
