Summary

The story follows Shen Shu Fei and her son, Zhao Hong Run, as they navigate palace politics. After Zhao Hong Run's previous misbehavior, Shen Shu Fei takes him to apologize to the concubines, who, relieved by his mother's intervention, begin to view him more favorably. Zhao Hong Run, however, is more interested in sneaking out to engage in mischief, including stealing a painting from his brother Zhao Hong Zhao's loft. He later meets Miss Su, where they engage in a playful rivalry over chess and other skills. The narrative highlights themes of familial duty, palace intrigue, and youthful rebellion.
