About Me Being Adopted by Talula (Complete).

Chapter 3: Warm Memories in the Melody. [2]

Summary

In this chapter, Orson is drawn to a wooden hut by a captivating melody and finds himself face-to-face with an unconscious girl from Erathia. Initially panicked, he realizes she is in a coma, marked by a calendar showing 60 days. Despite his closeness, he feels no life from her. Suddenly engulfed in darkness, Orson's consciousness shifts into a dandelion garden where he reunites with his childhood friend, Little Sen. Their interaction highlights Orson's struggle with his harsh view of the world and Sen's gentle wisdom. Just as he grapples with his emotions and the fading dream, he wakes up back in the hut, grasping the hand of the comatose girl, whose grip surprises him. This moment is abruptly interrupted when Talula bursts in, threatening Orson at sword-point, mistakenly believing he poses a danger to the girl. Orson, confused and emotional, tries to explain his innocent appearance there, but his vulnerability is evident when he unexpectedly starts crying. Talula, initially aggressive, hesitates and is taken aback by Orson's genuine fear. Their tense moment is cut short by the voices of the infected outside the cabin. Talula quickly decides to hide with Orson in a wardrobe to avoid detection. Inside, Orson feels the intensity of Talula's presence and a new, unfamiliar melody. After enduring a somewhat comical and heated moment, they escape without being noticed. Afterward, Talula suggests they not allow Orson to be involved in an operation against a destroyed village, but eventually a compromise is reached where he becomes a makeshift teacher for the children, filling the void left by the comatose girl. While he narrates a story about Simon to the young infected children, he emphasizes the importance of retaining one’s heart despite having the power to change the world, prompting thoughtful questions from the children.
