Summary

Li Yan Qing breaks into a locked room filled with damp air, discovering a chaotic workspace with unfinished reports and personal belongings. He learns from Commander Zhong Shi Dao that Ma Shun, the previous occupant, was a spy for Western Xia, which led to tensions with Tong Tai Wei, who recommended him. Li Yan Qing expresses a desire to work in the military camp, and Zhong Shi Dao agrees, noting the challenges of camp life. After a quick cleanup of the room, officials from Li Yan Qing's department arrive to welcome him. He meets Zhang Qu, the military officer, who informs him about his responsibilities and warns him to be cautious of Zhao Yuan, the recording officer, who resented losing the position to him.
