Summary

Zhang Ye was on his way to register at Peking University. He met his parents, who reminded him to behave and then left for work. Zhang Ye got dressed and headed to a small restaurant near the university for breakfast. There, he overheard a group of Peking University students discussing their elective course "Appreciation of Classical Masterpieces" and how their professor, Wang, was hospitalized due to diabetes complications. The students were frustrated because they hadn't had a proper class all semester and were worried about passing the exam. Zhang Ye realized that this was why Wu Ze Qing, the Dean of the Chinese Department, had invited him to teach at Peking University. He felt flattered and thought about how he would teach the course and make a good impression on the students. After breakfast, Zhang Ye arrived at the university and called Wu Ze Qing, who asked him to join a meeting at the Chinese Department. Zhang Ye went to the meeting room, where he met with department leaders and professors. The atmosphere was formal, and Zhang Ye felt a sense of trepidation but was also excited to embark on his new journey of teaching classical literature at Peking University.
