Summary

The narrator, nearing 27, reflects on his solitary fate in relationships, having only been involved with Fang Man, whom he claims to have "killed." Despite his friends' teasing, he feels cursed in love and believes dating him would be a misfortune. They visit an elderly veteran to borrow a knife with a history of killing enemies, which he describes with respect.
