The Legend of Situ Shankong.

Chapter 29: Crimson-Refined Giant Snake. [166]

Summary

Qin Bu Kong, a practitioner of folk Taoist magic, sought to locate a venomous snake that had harmed villagers using a technique called the "Mountain Encirclement Technique." He gathered numerous snakes, distinguishing a large, unique snake named Gan Mu, which he initially mistook for a python due to its size and coloration. Upon realizing it was a highly venomous Crimson Flame Snake, he understood Gan Mu's solitary existence mirrored his own. After saving a bitten villager, Qin Bu Kong extracted a bone from the snake for magical purposes, illustrating his deep connection to these creatures and his complex relationship with Gan Mu, whom he later named "companion."
