Summary

Cui Wen Xiang inquires about his cousin's absence, only to learn from Madam Lu that she is unwell and unwilling to meet him. Despite his disappointment, Madam Lu hints at the possibility of a union between their families if her husband can negotiate concessions with Cui Wen Xiang's father. Encouraged, Cui Wen Xiang plans a spring outing with his cousin, which Madam Lu supports. The next day, he arrives at Chanlin Temple, dressed elegantly and hopeful about his chances with her. However, upon arrival, he encounters an old monk who informs him that the temple is expecting Madam Lu and her daughter, but they cannot attend. After revealing his identity, the monk shows him respect and leads him to wait for Miss Lu, indicating that arrangements have been made for their visit.
