Summary

Jia Lian, in Yangzhou, is called back from a brothel by his servant Zhao Er, having been informed of Jia Huan's arrival. Jia Huan, visiting from the capital, brings winter clothes from Jia Lian's wife, and they share a warm reunion. Jia Lian invites Jia Huan to a poetry gathering hosted by the Wang Family, a notable event in Yangzhou. Meanwhile, Lin Ru Hai, the Salt Inspector, contemplates entrusting his affairs to either Jia Lian or Jia Huan, pondering the latter's reputation. As Jia Huan navigates the city, he encounters Mister He, a former aide, who invites him to a gathering, highlighting the wealth and social dynamics of Yangzhou.
