Chapter 27: Fortune Telling. [27]
Summary
Ximen Qing visits Sister Li Gui, who has been unwell since a previous encounter. She reveals her distress over Ximen's Fifth Lady's treatment of her, leading to a confrontation about Ximen's harshness. Later, in a drunken state, Ximen coerces his wife, Pan Jinlian, into giving him a strand of her hair, claiming he needs it for a net. After some reluctance, she complies. Ximen then presents the hair to Gui Jie, who remains skeptical of his claims. Meanwhile, Pan Jinlian suffers from the aftermath of the hair-cutting incident, prompting concerns from her peers about her health and the need for a fortune teller to restore harmony.Full content
