Summary

In a quiet night, Lin Daiyu sobs in her room while Jia Baoyu tries to console her. As preparations for her journey begin, Zi Juan seeks advice from Jia Huan about Daiyu's misfortune. Jia Huan suggests safeguarding Daiyu's family assets and settling her future matters. He also proposes that Xi Ren, a capable maid, accompany Daiyu to care for her. Despite initial reluctance, Jia Mu agrees to the arrangement. The next morning, as Daiyu departs for Yangzhou, emotions run high among the Jia family. On the journey, Daiyu feels unwell, but with Xi Ren and Zi Juan by her side, she finds some comfort. The household is left unsettled by her absence.
