Summary

In late April, Zhao Hong Run orchestrated a covert supply operation under the guise of military rations for the Shangshui Army, intending to support the enemy Lord Xiong Tuo of Yangcheng. Despite tacit approval from the Emperor of Wei, this act could jeopardize Zhao's reputation. The Shangshui Army, led by loyal but unambitious Gu Liang Wei, was involved in this scheme. The aftermath of the war with Chu resulted in significant population shifts, with Zhao's efforts bringing in over 400,000 Chu citizens. To ease tensions between the former Chu and Wei residents, the Ministry of Rites initiated programs to encourage intermarriage and cultural integration. Despite the challenges posed by gender imbalances and lingering hostilities, the Wei Kingdom anticipated a period of peace, barring any aggressive moves from the Han Kingdom. Zhao Hong Run's strategic maneuvers and alliances positioned the Wei Kingdom favorably, while internal dynamics shifted, including the newfound autonomy of his sister, Princess Yu Long.
