Summary

Li Yan Qing and his friends visit the county town for a Children's Gathering, where he receives an allowance from his father. With a hundred wen, he treats his friends to snacks but has to forgo his favorite syrup pancakes. As they explore the town, they encounter children singing a nursery rhyme from Li Yan Qing's new book, sparking his excitement. They eventually arrive at a bookstore, “Shi Lin Yuan,” which is selling out his book, “The Great Sage Catches Monsters.” Inside the crowded bookstore, Li Yan Qing meets fellow scholars who have purchased his book, and his friend Wang Gui buys copies to resell for profit. Li Yan Qing is approached by Luo, the shopkeeper, who informs him that the book is selling exceptionally well, with over five thousand copies sold in just ten days. Li Yan Qing realizes he will earn a significant amount from royalties and decides to continue writing despite his father's wishes to stop. The chapter ends with Li Yan Qing and his friends celebrating their success and planning to return to the inn.
