A Top Scholar From A Humble Background.

Chapter 26: Learning by Rote. [25]

Summary

On the first day at Kaiwen Academy, a prestigious school in the city, Shen Xi, a young student from the Shen family, paid his respects to his teacher, Su Yun Zhong. He received the "Analects" as his first book of enlightenment. Su Yun Zhong emphasized the importance of diligent study and following the teachings of the sages. In class, Shen Xi was reprimanded for casually flipping through the book instead of focusing on the lesson. Despite his familiarity with the content, he remained humble and avoided drawing attention to himself. The day consisted of learning only two sentences from the sages, writing the characters repeatedly on wooden boards until perfected, and Shen Xi deliberately writing sloppily to blend in with the other students.
