Summary

Du Yu and his companions, scholars journeying to the imperial exam, became lost in the mountains. As night fell, they faced the dangers of the wilderness, including potential encounters with robbers and demon beasts. They found refuge in a guarded courtyard, where they were cautiously welcomed by a steward. After being searched for weapons, they were allowed to stay the night. Du Yu remained vigilant, aware of lurking enemies. Unexpectedly, Wang Yi, tasked by the Empress Dowager to monitor Du Yu, appeared. They engaged in a game of blind chess, showcasing their intellect amidst the tension of their circumstances.
