Summary

Shen Xi disembarks from a boat, feeling the cold wind and preparing to head home. Unlike others, he hasn't been drinking, and he observes a drunken scholar struggling to maintain balance. Shen Xi encounters Old Xu, a con artist, who claims to have insights about the Lin family, the very family Shen Xi is trying to help. Old Xu reveals that the Lin family has offended the powerful Duke of Shouning, leading to their downfall. Shen Xi, feigning ignorance, learns about the family's plight and Old Xu's knowledge of court affairs. Despite his skepticism, Shen Xi rewards Old Xu with coins for his information but decides to leave, uninterested in further court gossip.
