Summary

Dong Yang, a princess, was shocked by an imperial decree and fainted. She was only a pawn in the royal family, with no control over her destiny. Her sister, Gao Yang, was furious when she heard the news. She snuck out of the palace, disguised as a eunuch, and rode to Tai Ping Village to visit Dong Yang. Gao Yang was met with resistance from the Golden Guard, but she fought her way in, whipping the guards and threatening to cut them down if they didn't let her pass. When she arrived at the mansion, she found Dong Yang lying in bed, pale and lifeless. Gao Yang was shocked and burst into tears. Lu Liu, a lady-in-waiting, explained that the emperor had ordered Dong Yang to marry the eldest son of the Shen Kingdom, Gao Lu Hang. Gao Yang was outraged, knowing Gao Lu Hang's reputation as a scoundrel. Dong Yang finally reacted when Gao Yang mentioned Li Su, her lover. Gao Yang told Dong Yang that Li Su had been summoned by the emperor and was in danger. Dong Yang was devastated, feeling that she and Li Su were destined to be apart. Meanwhile, Cheng Chumo, a friend of Li Su's, heard about the news and tried to persuade his father, Cheng Yaojin, to help Li Su. However, Cheng Yaojin refused, feeling that Li Su had brought his own demise by offending the emperor.
