Summary

In a tense escape from a terrifying old ghost, the narrator and Ma Nao find themselves pursued and nearly caught. Just as they feel hopeless, a golden thread appears, revealing a guardian spirit resembling the narrator's grandmother. The ghost, a Toad Spirit, taunts them, but the arrival of the spirit gives them a sense of safety. They flee towards the narrator's village, seeking refuge in a thatched hut.
