Summary

The chapter describes a group of soldiers tasked with managing farmland in the Lingnan region, which has become a haven for criminals and corrupt officials over the past century. The soldiers quickly establish control and begin distributing the local population, which includes many non-Han tribes. However, they face resistance from the local gentry and landlords, who are secretly undermining their efforts. . The chapter then shifts to a battle between the soldiers and a group of short, monkey-like people from Jiaozhi who were plundering and killing in the local villages. The soldiers are able to defeat this group, leaving behind thousands of bodies.
