Summary

Zhou Zhen finds himself in an empty thatched hut, armed only with a brick, as he hears persistent knocking on the door. After the knocking fades, he cautiously observes the outside, noting the cold, desolate village with its thatched huts and a small pond. He witnesses a child, seemingly blind, knocking on doors but receiving no response. When the child hears a muffled sob from one house, he freezes, and Zhou Zhen feels a chill as the child suddenly vanishes. Confused and anxious, Zhou Zhen realizes he is physically weak and needs rest. He attempts to sleep but is jolted awake by knocking once more, only to find the door wide open. A boy named Berlu stands outside, urging him to get up for a game, leading Zhou Zhen to contemplate the situation and his identity in this new environment.
