Summary

The chapter describes the River of Forgetfulness, where countless souls struggle in dark waters filled with resentment. Nagayama Yuuzuru, sensing danger, hides as a gigantic ghostly hand emerges, sweeping souls away. He is in the afterlife to gather soul cores for the Slit-Mouthed Woman, his shikigami. After hunting several high-rank spirits, he encounters Fujiwara Ayako, a sealed Evil God, who is attacked by monsters. Despite her beauty, she reveals her dangerous nature as she attempts to escape. Yuuzuru initially tries to eliminate her but discovers she cannot be killed, only sealed. As she transforms and pleads for help, he decides to take her to the Western Heaven Gate. There, Ayako thanks him for her escape but tries to manipulate him. Yuuzuru demands information about the "black corpse life," and Ayako reluctantly shares her past, revealing her connection to the Mother Goddess Izanami. She is cautious and attempts to charm Yuuzuru, but he maintains control, seeking to learn more about her and her history.
