Summary

Jia Huan invites Senior Disciple Gong Sun Liang and Luo Jun Zi to the capital to bid farewell to the CEO. Meanwhile, he meets with Ji Ming, who is staying at the Yangzhou Meeting Hall. Ji Ming is an inner student of Wen Dao Academy and had contributed during the flood of the ninth year of Zhi. Jia Huan also hosts a lunch for Qiao Ru Song, Wei Yang, Zhang Si Shui, and Liu Yi Chen, and later meets with Mister Long Jiang at the famous courtesan Xiao Xue's establishment in Goulan Alley. Jia Huan then visits Grandmaster Fang Wang, presenting him with a landscape painting by Tang Bohu and seeking his help in securing a better outcome for his poetry teacher, Mr. Luo, who is in a dire situation due to the court's punishment of the students. Jia Huan's speech is somewhat roundabout, but Fang Wang understands his intentions and agrees to put in a good word with the emperor. However, he warns Jia Huan that writing a letter of apology may damage his reputation in the scholarly community and make his official career path more difficult. Fang Wang is about to leave the capital and is willing to help Jia Huan, but the outcome depends on the royal decision.
