The Three Kingdoms: The Prodigal Son of Shu Han, starting with a fiery blaze at Wolong Ridge.

Chapter 237: Uncle Er's Illness, A Chance to Conquer Xichuan . [236]

Summary

In this chapter, Liu Mang criticizes his father, Liu Bei, for wanting to engage Zhang Lu in Hanzhong directly. Liu Mang explains that Zhang Lu, despite being a bandit leader, has won the favor of the people through his benevolent governance, including distributing food and pardoning minor crimes. He warns that attacking Zhang Lu head-on would be a loss. Instead, Liu Mang proposes a strategy where Guan Yu, Liu Bei’s brother, pretends to suffer grievances in order to provoke Liu Zhang, the ruler of Sichuan, to make a wrong move. The ultimate goal is to enter Sichuan without raising suspicion and gain a legitimate reason to act against Liu Zhang. Guan Yu initially resents the idea of feigning weakness but ultimately agrees to play his part for the greater good. The chapter emphasizes the cleverness of Liu Mang’s strategy and the deep bonds between Liu Bei and his brothers Guan Yu and Zhang Fei.
