Summary

Miao Yi, summoned by Hai Shan, reluctantly decides to make the journey despite being a minor official. He seeks to take some little mantises with him but is denied by Yao Ruoxian, who values them highly. Miao Yi reassures two women, Qian Er and Xue'er, that they cannot accompany him due to the dangers ahead. They express their desire to follow him, but he insists on their safety. After a heartfelt exchange, Miao Yi departs on Hei Tan, leaving the women hopeful for his return. Upon reaching Zhen Hai Shan, he meets Qin Wei Wei, who questions him about the mysterious disappearance of six people from Zhenhai Mountain, hinting at underlying tensions.
