Summary

In this narrative, Pan Jinlian bids farewell to little Yu, who gifts her two golden hairpins. After arriving at Old Wang's house, she shares a bed with him while his son, Wang Chao Er, becomes closer to her. They engage in secretive games at night, masking their affair with excuses of a cat catching a mouse. Meanwhile, Chen Jing Ji seeks to marry Pan Jinlian, confronting Grandma Wang for her exorbitant bride price. After negotiation, he agrees to pay 100 taels of silver, promising to return quickly from Tokyo with the funds. Pan Jinlian expresses urgency, fearing she may lose her chance to him.
