Chapter 23: A Brief History of the Western Xia. [119]
Summary
In a deserted well, Dou Ya Zai descends to explore and discovers rusted iron pieces, broken swords, spearheads, arrowheads, and numerous human bones, revealing it as a graveyard. The group speculates these remains might belong to soldiers of the Western Xia, a mysterious civilization. The narrative shifts to the history of Western Xia, founded by Tuo Ba Si Gong, and its eventual destruction by the Mongols, driven by a secret decree from Genghis Khan after his death. The last emperor, Li Xian, surrenders, leading to a massacre of his people. The bones in the well symbolize the tragic fate of the Dangxiang people during this annihilation.Full content
