Summary

In the Windless Gorge lies the White Spiral Valley, a vast area resembling a conch shell, filled with white snake-head flower trees known for their medicinal properties. Six hundred years ago, the Grand Soul Master, Hu Qian Shan, claimed the valley as his territory, making it off-limits to outsiders. He struggles with a flawed pill recipe, lamenting the high costs of failed attempts and the need to raise prices. A young woman, Du Juan, brings him the agreed payment, supporting his price increase. Another young woman, Haitang, rushes in to inform them about a new pill master, Hu Xiao Tian, who has sold valuable pills at a low price, alarming the Grand Soul Master.
