Chapter 223: Ruffling the Autumn Waters. [230]
Summary
Li Su, a carefree and lazy individual, lived life without distinguishing right from wrong or considering the consequences of his actions. He believed that what was right, was simply right, and that others had established the principles and justice of the world. His expectations for Wang Zhi were high, but Wang Zhi had never imagined that he would one day secretly plot against the Ministry of Justice. Li Su's words and actions were like a ray of sunshine, but also had a dark side that was difficult to see. He sympathized with Wang Zhi's situation, calling him a group of beggars who were ignorant of their own interests. Li Su whispered a plan in Wang Zhi's ear, which made Wang Zhi hesitant. Dong Yang, who was concerned for Li Su's well-being, warned him about the dangers of his plan, particularly with regards to the Tai Zi. Li Su was resolute in his decision, and Dong Yang's expressions showed his unease. Li Su's ambition and desire for a simple life led him to discuss assassinating the Crown Prince with Wang Zhi, a plan that Dong Yang seemed indifferent to. When asked who he would save first if he and the Crown Prince were to fall into the water simultaneously, Dong Yang replied without hesitation that he would save Li Su. This answer brought Li Su a great sense of relief and joy, as he felt a deep sense of connection with Dong Yang.Full content
