Summary

Mei Lun visits Mentor Jie Luo En's office, where he overhears a heated discussion about a dog wanting to become a Knight of the Brand. Inside, he meets Jie Luo En and two other mentors, He Bu Shi Dou Hua and Duo Mo Man Kai Wei Qi, who reveal their allegiance to the Twilight Knights. Jie Luo En explains that while they teach the 'Marked Knight' at the academy, their true goal is to cultivate more knights for their faction. Mei Lun learns that to access higher levels of knighthood, he must complete trials at the Twilight Knights' headquarters. Mei Lun is given the choice to join one of three schools for the 'Marked Knight': Furious Waves, Uplifting Mountains, or Blazing Flames. After considering Spike's abilities, he decides to join the Uplifting Mountains school under He Bu, who explains the origins and mechanics of the Marked Knights. He Bu offers two sets of mark templates—Giant Strength and Heavy Mountain—for Mei Lun to choose from. Mei Lun opts for the Heavy Mountain set and is informed about the need for a harmonizing liquid to assist with engraving, which costs 500 gold coins. Later, Mei Lun feels down about his financial situation after realizing he has spent nearly 1000 gold coins in less than a month. He contacts his family for funds, explaining that his expenses were necessary. Morgan, the family butler, arranges for the money to be sent, showing concern for Mei Lun's well-being. Inspired by his new life, Mei Lun resolves to change his habits and make money, deciding to exercise with Spike.
