Summary

In a chaotic slum of C City, Yuan learns about an upcoming trial that he must attend within six days. He receives a wristband for transport and is warned of dire consequences if he fails to arrive. After a driverless vehicle takes him home, he reflects on his impoverished surroundings. In his dilapidated room, he discovers an iron box containing a photo of his grandfather with a woman and child, a technique diagram in an ancient script, and a tattered diary. The contents hint at his family's history and possibly significant knowledge, yet Yuan struggles to understand their meaning.
