Summary

In this passage, a group of monks in a Zen temple plot to murder Xuan Zang and his companions to steal their treasures. They first attempt to manipulate Xuan Zang by requesting to borrow a precious robe, which he reluctantly allows. Later, at night, the monks secretly prepare to set fire to Xuan Zang's room, intending to kill him and his group to steal their belongings.
