Summary

In this chapter, Orson finds himself unexpectedly pulled out of a conversation at the Lungmen Guard Department by Hoshiguma, who initially appears to be helping him avoid trouble with Officer Chen and the Penguin Logistics staff. As they move to the cafeteria, Hoshiguma expresses her intention to talk to Old Chen about serious matters. During their meal, Orson and Hoshiguma discuss their pasts, their connections to Longmen, and the pressures of their respective roles. Hoshiguma acknowledges Orson's contributions to the Guard Bureau and suggests that he could join the SWAT team. Feeling determined to address the issue of human trafficking that he had come to discuss with Officer Chen, Orson shares his thoughts with Hoshiguma. She prepares to assist him by devising a plan to keep Officer Chen occupied. After a somewhat clumsy interaction, Hoshiguma enlists a fellow Guard Bureau member, A Fa, to help execute their plan. Once outside the department, Hoshiguma introduces Orson to her motorcycle, and the two rush to a location where they suspect more leads in the trafficking case. Upon arrival, Hoshiguma forcefully enters an apartment and catches a middle-aged man attempting to flee, suspecting him of being involved in the trafficking ring. As she arrests him, Orson senses danger approaching and instinctively warns Hoshiguma, setting the stage for an intense confrontation.
