Summary

Shi Mu and his companions encounter Jin Xiao Chai, who is initially displeased by the antics of Shi Mu's parrot, Cai Er. After some playful banter, Jin Xiao Chai enlists Shi Mu's help to plan a route through the Barbarian Wilderness to the Tian Mo Sect, avoiding the dangerous sea route. They ride out of the valley and, ten days later, reach a barbarian camp where they negotiate passage to gather herbs from the Lan Qi tribe. After paying a fee, they leave the camp but soon find themselves attacked by scorpion-tailed beasts during the night. Shi Mu and his companions defend themselves successfully, but they are led to a nearby barbarian encampment where Jin Xiao Chai confronts the yellow-faced barbarian leader, accusing him of provoking conflict. The chapter ends with Jin Xiao Chai attacking the barbarian leader with her whip.
