Summary

In Chapter 211, Niu Sanjin, a commander turned village chief of Yunshui Pass, travels to Chang'an with his wife and child, hoping for a better future after being summoned by the court. Despite their poverty, he carries the hope of his village. As they approach Chang'an, they encounter a group of bandits led by Cheng Dalei, who, mistaking Niu Sanjin for an easy target, attempt to rob him. Niu Sanjin, armed only with a wooden sword, tries to assert his authority but is quickly overpowered and captured along with his family. Cheng Dalei takes Niu Sanjin's official seal and disguises himself to infiltrate the government office, unaware that his appearance will draw attention.
