Summary

In this narrative, Wu Xie, Pang Zi, and Zheng Jiu find themselves in a precarious situation, deciding to use a rope to slide down a cliff. Wu Xie insists on going first for safety, leading to their descent. Upon reaching the ground, they discover a Nine-Headed Snake Cypress, initially mistaking its grotesque fruits for corpses. Their horror escalates when they encounter two corpses, one with a fox-like face, which triggers a dangerous illusion in Pang Zi and Wu Xie. As they turn on each other, Zheng Jiu intervenes, realizing the need for pain to break the illusion.
