Chapter 21: Inn Turmoil. [21]
Summary
Han Feng Xue embarks on a journey from Maple City to Ice City, feeling lonely and unprepared. After three days of travel, he finally reaches a village where a farmer's wife directs him to Ice City, which is two hundred miles away. Upon arriving, he is awed by the city's grandeur compared to Maple City and learns that the journey to the Imperial Capital is daunting—about two hundred thousand miles. He checks into Wo Lai Ju Inn, where he is initially mistaken for a beggar due to his dusty appearance. After revealing a gold coin, the waiter's attitude changes, and Han Feng Xue orders a meal. He overhears a conversation between an elderly man and a young woman about traveling to the Imperial Capital. When the young woman confronts him for eavesdropping, he defends himself, leading to a brief exchange of insults. After freshening up, Han Feng Xue returns to the dining area, catching the young woman's attention, but she remains dismissive. Their interaction ends with her warning him not to cross paths with her in the Imperial Capital.Full content
