Chapter 208: Emperor and Minister Face to Face (Part 2). [215]
Summary
Li Su, a former young farmer, has entered the imperial court and is cautious about speaking freely due to the potential consequences of offending the emperor, Li Shi Min. When asked about sending troops or providing support to Xue Yan, Li Su responds evasively, comparing the decision to choosing between deer meat and mutton. Li Shi Min becomes displeased and considers sending Li Su to the remote Jiaozhou governor's office. Li Su quickly changes the subject and shares his idea about the Xue Yan rebellion, suggesting that the Tang dynasty employ strategy and cunning to erode Xue Yan's national strength rather than deploying troops. He proposes supporting one of Xue Yan's princes and using spies to accelerate the division of the tribal leaders. Li Shi Min's expression changes as he considers Li Su's words, and he asks which prince to support, but Li Su's evasive response again angers Li Shi Min.Full content
