Summary

A group of a hundred refugees, including the elderly, women, and children, flee their war-torn village, struggling through the snow in search of safety. They are surrounded by able-bodied men armed for protection. The conflict between Wang Ren Gong and his rival has forced this migration, with uncertainty about their survival in the harsh winter. As they encounter a well-equipped troop led by Li Shi Min, the refugees are ordered to clear the way. Despite their plight, Li Shi Min reflects on the refugees' potential role in the economy, while the military commander at a fortress prepares to accept more refugees, despite dwindling resources. The situation is dire, with the commander contemplating a desperate fight against Wang Ren Gong rather than succumbing to starvation.
