Chapter 2: Liu Yao Shows Her Power. [2]

Summary

Liu Qing informs her mother, Liu Mu, about a burly man who attempted to sell her sister, Yao Er, for ten taels of silver. Angered, Liu Mu confronts her mother-in-law, the Old Madam, who dismisses her concerns and insists on selling Yao Er for dowry money. Despite Liu Mu's pleas, the Old Madam remains cruel and domineering. Liu Yao, the protagonist, witnesses the injustice and stands up to her grandmother, challenging her authority and defending her mother. The confrontation escalates, leading to a surprising turn of events as the Old Madam inadvertently attacks her own daughter-in-law. The chapter ends with a humorous note about the author's new book.
